Surprise Monday message

31 July, 2023

Lord this morning as I dropped the kids off… it’s the middle of winter… they say the coldest it’s been in 20 years so really feeling the pinch all of us… we are freezing… struggling to dry clothes cos it’s wet here in winter… struggling just to stay motivated some days… to know what to do next is a challenge and the ball game of life changes daily what with changing provinces, changing schools, changing communities, changing careers, husband changing career as well, children changing ages and stages of life… it’s been a tough year and a half… so back to arriving at school this morning I looked up at the beauty of Your creation Lord and I thought what could I learn or glean from it today… in my pride-filled, arrogant mindset I thought I don’t think I’m going to learn something from this nature today… I actually thought that… even though since 2017 everyday I looked and asked, God You have taught me and shown me magnificent things, if I don’t look and ask I don’t see, I don’t engage and ask You, those are the days I miss Your voice Your hand and Your awesome direction and friendship connection where You gently, kindly lead me… but on every single day when I have taken the time You have shown me magnificent things… after all this time, 7 years of faithfully speaking to me, I am sad to say today I thought I won’t see a message I won’t hear You speak to me.

Lord Your faithfulness supercedes my frail attempts at loving You and living for You

… when I looked up and saw those flowers I couldn’t believe how they represented me in everyway… every single flower looked different, some looked as they should at that time of the day still look they were tightly closed, every petal neatly in it’s place awaiting the first light of day to glimmer over and say good morning… some were ragged and almost jagged edges fallen and in stages of falling off the petals beyond withered, completely ragged as if wrung out by the life they’d put out and just waiting for the end to come as they hung onto their life connection for that one more breathe of just one more glimpse of day… still others were in pieces… the parts of the flower no longer looked as though they belonged to any one of the other at any time in history… wow… how these flowers represent my different stages of life… there’s me and You Lord, our relationship, I’m struggling to wake up and be with You daily which I so desperately need, there’s me and my hubby in a new phase of full time work for each of us, there’s me with each child – each of them is on their own path with changes moment by moment in how we relate to the world around us and figuring out how mom and dad fit into their relationship with the world, then there’s life to be had and done on all fronts of work, household, admin and the usual chores of life… now this really created interest in my heart as I wondered Lord if these pretty little flowers which usually look the same daily to me, could suddenly represent the raggedy edges and outskirts of my life what could You possibly want to say to me through them? Your answer as usual so profound… “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and you will find rest.”

I had to look it up, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28‭-‬30 NIV

Hope this helps you as it did me today… God bless
