I was reading in Isaiah this morning, when it struck me how the Israelites speak about their land. Then I realised, perhaps they don’t all speak about their land in this way, but definitely the men of God speak about it as beautiful, as bountiful as God’s amazing promise to them as a people.
I got to thinking, perhaps it doesn’t matter how we all speak about our country, but if we consider ourselves leaders of a home, leaders of a company, leaders of a group of any sort in our society, surely it would be not only important, but also beneficial to speak life, health, beauty and bounty into our land?
Whether we’re speaking about it’s land, it’s leaders, it’s business manners and organisation or most importantly it’s people, shouldn’t we be speaking abundance, life, health, prosperity and Godliness to it?
I got to thinking of some people I’ve heard speaking and I’ve often thought of it as vanity, but come to think of it you have 2 options, you can bless or curse, diminish or increase… what would you like to see happen in our land this year, what would you like our children to inherit from this land?
Let’s consider Isaiah 4:2 “and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.”
I’ve never been to Israel, but the people I know who have, came back with stories of amazing grace. ‘In the middle of the desert they have the most amazing produce available,’ they would say, on and on they would talk about the most arid conditions and yet the contrast of what the Israeli people are able to achieve in the most hostile conditions of both desert and onslaught from enemies.
Let’s consider Ps 72:16 “Let grain abound throughout the land; on the tops of the hills may it sway. Let its fruit flourish like the grass of Lebanon; let it thrive like the grass of the field.”
Not only is he blessing the land, but he is very specific in how he blesses, what the grain should look like, where it should grow, comparing it to something he has a picture in mind of how he sees the grain looking once done, isn’t that the ultimate persuasion of faith, that you physically see in your mind what you are currently declaring with your mouth, though not yet there, your mind is visualising it so that your spirit knows how to ask Father for it?
Ez 36:8 “But you, O mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home.”
I’m sure there are so many ways and reasons to read this, not as physical fruit or branches, but for the sake of our conversation let’s take it to mean literally branches and fruit. Here the Lord is telling the mountains what, for whom and even when they will produce this fruit.
Look here how He speaks to the mountains:
Ez 36:9-12 “I am concerned for you and will look on you with favour; you will be plowed and sown, and I will multiply the number of people upon you, even the whole house of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will increase the number of men and animals upon you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord. I will cause people, my people Israel, to walk upon you. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance; you will never again deprive their children.”
So here we see the Lord speaking to the mountains, He is telling them they will be blessed, but the blessing overflows to the people, resulting in bringing glory to God, as He is the provider of all the blessing to the land, the people and bringing glory to His own name.
Where are we to start:
1 – Let’s consider whether we are leading anyone, everyone of us is a leading, even if it’s just to lead myself into a human being achieving God’s plan for my life, I am leading myself.
If I am a leader, I need to think, speak, act like said leader. In what way can I change my thinking, speaking, acting in order to bless my country, bless the land, bless the mountains, flats, farms, animals with my mouth, speak life…
If I am able to speak life over the inanimate of the country, am I able with that same mouth curse the people… you may say I never curse… really… ‘if this person were less of an idiot this would never had happened’, ever thought thoughts like these? I’ve thought them daily… so, no judgment, simply, let’s try stop the way we think, let’s change the trajectory, knowing we are influencing the small people in our lives, blessing the land and all we share it with… God will take care of the rest, it is to His glory… let’s make our mouths, thoughts and actions to His glory as well…
much love, in Christ
…in Christ… alone these things are possible, I am the worst culprit, writing it here to share the thoughts, but don’t think I’m getting them right… I struggle moment to moment…
